Doing Business In India

tips on doing business in India

If you want to conduct business in India, it is important to first understand the culture and business practices. If you understand these things, conducting business in the country will be easy. When you go to a business meeting with Indians for the first time, you may find that they want to learn everything about you immediately. This is something that you will not want to be annoyed by. They are simply interested in establishing a business relationship. It is also important to remember that if you're a foreigner, your value to the locals will be determined by the amount of capital you have. When you negotiate in India, you will not want to be impatient or desperate. Instead, it is best to be indifferent. If you act as if it doesn't matter whether or not the deal will go through, it is likely that you will get what you want.

business investment in india

As with any business, communication is extremely important in India. This is especially true if you are a foreigner. There will already be a culture or language between you and the people you work with, and failing to communicate properly will not make things easier. When you conduct business with women, never shake their hands or sit close to them. If you are with a woman in a public location, it is best to stay a reasonable distance away from her, even if you are business partners. It is also important to not get your information about India from tourists who have traveled to the country. They may have had negative experiences with the people they encountered, but this doesn't mean that everyone in the country will act this way.

Business opportunities exists throughout India for the right investment firm and ventture capitalists from India that wish to receive a health return on their investment. I hope you enjoyed reading this and received some tips on doing business in India.

Culture can determinate the thinking pattern, when we begin to enter into a bussiness relationship with a country, we must first to know its culture.

Don't worry. It always happens in foreign trade. You should send emails several days later if no news returns. Of course, don't always send the same email for troubling them. I'm sure if your product is suitable for them, they will contact you in the near future. Because they are businessmen/businesswomen too.

To what I know,  Furniture import carry high duty in India unless they have special licence, therefore, they need time to sort out all these and not an easy job. Be patient.

Most traders here find difficulty in doing business with Indian, It is partly due to not aware of the business environment there. It is a very huge market, no doubt about that, however, politically, India claim to be the biggest Democratic nation in the world but in term of trade policy, they are one of the most import protective country in the world. Like China, India does have many overseas Indian and these Indian control most of the India import due to their native background and family connection. Therefore, anyone wanted to trade with India should start off with an Indian overseas trader whom are more familiar with Indian economical situation instead of direct buyer from India. Another reason  is India has a very strict foreign exchange control policy where remittance of USD is rather problematic, hence it answer why some of your payment come from third countries instead of India. Please also bear in mind, almost 100 percents of import to India carry import duty in various degree and some are strictly not allowed to unless with special licence. Last, most traders here find Indian buyers are very petty in pricing, it is because there are too many uncertainty such as custom regulation, corruption and red tape etc which make their costing rather a taxing job.  Final, please be known that any evading of tax carry a heavy jail term in India and it also answer why Indian buyers slow in their reply .
