Lesson 1   第一课   (d:? yi k::)

Greetings    问候    w::n h:<u

      t:∴i  m:?ng  le                              t:∴i
1、"太 忙 了" ?? "too busy", the "太" is an adverb, to show great extent.

wǒ mēn yī  qǐ chī f:∴n ba                 bā
2、"我  们  一  起  吃  饭  吧!" ?? "Let's eat together!" In which the "吧"at the end is an auxiliary giving stress to the tone. The" 吧" in the sentence gives the tone of request, suggestion or negotiation. It can also make the sentence a command or to urge, hasten someone。

For example:
ku:∴i diǎn er zǒu ba
"快  点  儿  走  吧!" "Get a move on!"

wǒ mēn yī  qǐ w:?n  er   ba
"我  们  一  起  玩  儿  吧!" "Let's have fun together!"

     gāi kǎo sh:? le                                                    gāi
3、"该考试了." "It should be exam time soon." The "该" is an auxiliary verb, means that something should be done or should happen。
     xi:∴ bān le            xi:∴
4、"下班了?" "Finished work?" The "下" is a verb here and denotes the ending of work or study upon a scheduled time. The "了" is an auxiliary used following verbs or adjectives, to mean the action or change has taken place already. Used at the end of a sentence or before a break in the sentence, it denotes change or the occurrence of a new condition.

      ni hǎo ma                        ma
5、"你好吗?" ?? "How are you?", the "吗" is placed at the end of the sentence to make it a question, this is the most common questioning sentence structure in Chinese.

wǒ hěn hǎo                                                                                           wǒ hěn hǎo            wǒ  hǎo     hěn hǎo wǒ
6、"我很好" ?? "I am very well." Usually when replying to others' greetings, use "我  很  好" but not "我好" or "很 好 我".
  hěn
"很" or "very" doesn't really represent the extent of one's wll being in this phrase.

       mēn
7、"们", can be used to make plurals,

For example:

wǒ  ????wǒ mēn, ni ???? nimen   tā/tā  ???? tāmēn/tāmēn
我 ????我们, 你????你们, 他/她????他们/她们
I ?? we, you ?? you(pl.), he/she ?? they.

Qise, you do a good job

It is very helpful for foreign friends

2008-3-29 19:21 arfei2002job
I have a question:if they can not read pinyin ,how can they recognize the wired characters(Chinese simplified characters)? How can we help them easier?

If you are a foreigner, when you are learning the knowledge above, what problem do you have?

2008-3-30 15:10 banian
:lol it is really a problem:lol :lol

2008-3-30 16:45 olive06
another problem, their computer is English System, cant display Chinese words. so how they could know the coresspond pinyin to the spell.
for, some customers have took their computer, when they visited China, so i know this phenomena

2008-3-30 21:23 Qiseviolet
If they can't read chinese or have any other problems, they can reply here or email me,
I will make a new plan for this lesson.

But the first thing is that the foreigners should let me know what they need or want...
not us to guess what will be happened in future.......:)

Hi 7, any easier course? I think it may be a little hard for foreign friends to study sentences at the beginning.

I will check it ....:loveliness:

2008-4-3 18:46 mazy
It's very kind of you. I think firstly, you can teach some very simple PINYIN for the beginning. Because it is easier to understand in letters and then, teach some simple Chinese characters. You should understand that it is much different for different languages to make a sentence.

If I were foreigner , I will give my huge thanking for your job .

Ur you ! :victory:

to oliver

2008-4-19 12:53 jask1985
ya, really useful for the foreigner to learn chinese.

2008-4-19 15:11 Ray-Lai
Good try. I think it would help if you could explain how the pronunciation would be by using examples of English words. For example
a - as in alive
e - as in early
i - as in in
o - as in autocar
u - as in woo (although now many people can say wushu, so the u is not hard to figure out)
:? - as in ... that one's hard. I usually think of the French pronouncing 'u'.  Maybe someone can come up with a word with :? pronounced in it.
etc

That way the foreigners have a better feeling for the pronunciation.
