Olympic Torch Holders to Head for Mt. Qomolangma

[color=Blue][size=4]Torch holders for the 2008 Beijing Olympics will climb Mount Qomolangma this year to test their plan to light the Olympic torch on top of the world.


Beijing??s Vice-Mayor and Executive Vice-President of the Beijing Organizing Committee Liu Jingmin disclosed the plan recently. He noted that the torch was being specially designed to survive the harsh natural environment of low pressure, severe coldness and no oxygen.


China wants to carry the Olympic torch to the top of the world on the summit of Mount Qomolangma and across Taiwan on its route to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.[/size][/color]

[color=Blue][size=4]An officer from a Tibet local tourism bureau hopes the Olympic Games will bring in more tourists and make the world's highest mountain their paradise. According to latest statistics, the mountain had attracted a total of 32 thousand tourists by late September this year.
